The Pilots’ took to the ice in their new uniforms and their winning ways continued against Cloverdale and White Rock last week with back-to-back wins!
On Thursday, the Pilots rolled into Cloverdale Arena hoping to snap their 13-0-0 start, and did exactly that. Preston Muxlow stole the show with 4 goals (his first career hat trick as well!), and Cody Johnston provided 2 goals, including the empty-netter, and 3 assists for the 6-4 win. Jaxson Lafortune stopped 43 of 47.
The Pilots played host to the defending champion White Rock Whalers the next night at MSA Arena, walking away with the 7-2 victory. Alen Isovic scored twice leading the way for the Pilots, followed by other goal scorers Evan Demers, Porter Muxlow, Willem Bagnall, Charlie Paul, and Cody Johnston. Lafortune was lights-out on the back-to-back stopping 30 of 32. Newest Pilot Troy Muise, acquired from Mission last week, made his presence felt in the 3rd, dropping the gloves with Rhys Dupuis in defence of a teammate and drawing a 5-minute major penalty.
With the two wins, the Pilots sit atop the PJHL for the first time this season with a 13-1-2 record. Cody Johnston extended his league lead with 9 points on the weekend and now 41 on the season, 12 ahead of second place. Cloverdale goaltender Saahil Taakhar departed for the SIJHL in Ontario earlier this week, leaving Jaxson Lafortune with the league lead in save percentage (0.934) and goals against average (2.43).
A quiet week for the Pilots awaits, as they host the Port Moody Panthers this Friday, October 30th, at MSA Arena. The Panthers sit at 5th in the PJHL at 5-4-2, and are led by Dane Svingen-Jones who has 21 points in 10 games.
